  "methodology": [
    "Figures for the wellness economy come from the Global Wellness Institute’s Global Wellness Economy Monitor and its US release. GWI is the main source here because it publishes a consistent sector taxonomy, a stated methodology and a long back-series. No other source in this space publishes all three.",
    "App-store figures come from Sensor Tower, which estimates downloads and in-app purchase revenue from observed store activity. That is a measurement of one channel, not a market model, and it is labelled as such wherever it appears.",
    "The three \"wellness app market\" estimates were each read from the publisher’s own page and are quoted exactly as published, with the category named as that publisher names it. No attempt has been made to reconcile them, because none of them publishes the methodology that would make reconciliation possible.",
    "Where a figure is a ratio, a share or a sum, the arithmetic is stated on the stat itself and re-derived automatically whenever the site is built.",

    "The eleven sectors overlap and cannot be summed. Anyone quoting two sector figures together is probably double-counting.",
    "\"Wellness\" is a category the industry defines for itself. GWI’s definition includes wellness real estate and personalised medicine, which many readers would not think of as wellness spending at all. The $6.8 trillion headline depends on those inclusions.",
    "The comparison between the highest app-market estimate and Sensor Tower’s observed spending is not like-for-like: different years, different category boundaries, and app-store data excludes off-platform subscriptions, advertising and B2B revenue. It shows an order of magnitude, not a discrepancy that can be precisely quantified.",
    "We have not audited any of the three market-research estimates and make no claim that any of them is wrong. The verifiable claim is only that they differ from one another by 19× for the same year, and that none publishes a methodology a reader could check.",
    "Forecasts to 2029, 2033 and 2035 are projections. They describe their authors’ assumptions, not the future."
